Ram S.p.a.

Rete Autostrade Mediterranee (RAM) was founded in 2004 to implement the “Motorways of the Sea” National Program, framed within the Trans European Transport Networks (TEN-T) plan, and specifically the cross-Corridor Motorways of the Sea (MoS).

RAM is an in-house company of the Ministry of Infrastructures and Transport, entirely owned by the Ministry of Economy and Finance; the overall objective is to develop the short-range maritime routes and enhance their strategic role within the Euro-Mediterranean transport network and door-to-door logistics chain.

The sea transport network is indeed a valuable alternative to road transport, for it allows to:

  • reduce road traffic congestion
  • dramatically reduce polluting emissions caused by heavy traffic
  • save on logistics costs by reducing energy consumption
  • promote the intermodal and door-to-door logistics chain.

In this operational scenario, RAM carries out several activities related to Projects, Incentives and Public Administrations.
