Ports and Logistics
Since 2015 with the approval of the "National strategic plan for ports and logistics" and amended by Legislative Decree 169/2016 and Legislative Decree 232/2017, the process of reform of ports and national logistics has profoundly changed the national port system in terms of governance, infrastructure programming, modal integration and operational simplification of port operations.
The maritime-port system has been identified as one of the main elements of the country's interface with the production and consumption markets on a global scale, without forgetting the importance of the maritime sector also for passengers and cruises.
The 58 main Italian ports, now reorganized into 16 new Port System Authorities, earned a chance to become the fundamental intermodal nodes integrated in the TEN-T Corridors, combining competitiveness, connection with local territories and markets and social and environmental sustainability.
In this context are included the activities of the “Port and Logistics Departments” of RAM, which, as an in-house company, contributes to the elaboration, implementation and management of the matters of interest regarding logistics, infrastructure and transport, as foreseen in the planning and programming documents of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport.
Specifically, the "Ports and Logistics Sector" carries out the following activities:
- Analysis, studies and statistical processing of transport and logistics, with a focus on the Motorways of the Sea segment.
- Technical Secretariat at the National Coordination Conference of the Port System Authorities;
- Technical Secretariat for the Logistics and Transport Partnership;
